It’s no secret that a clean set of teeth doesn’t decay. Therefore, dental hygiene is an integral part of modern dentistry and, in addition to regular preventive visits, helps keep teeth naturally clean, without pigmentation, tartar, and, most importantly, without cavities. Our dental hygiene experts will help you navigate the vast array of dental tools, teach you how to use them, and find the exact home care routine for your teeth that matches the condition of your oral cavity.
Why is dental hygiene so important?
The buildup of dental plaque in hard-to-reach areas, such as interdental spaces, creates an acidic environment due to bacteria, which damages hard dental tissues – most commonly resulting in tooth decay. Dental plaque, along with pigmentation, also does not look aesthetically pleasing. Over time, mature plaque mineralizes, forming tartar. Without prior care, patients may suffer from gum inflammation, which unfortunately leads to a condition called periodontitis, i.e., inflammation of the tooth’s supporting apparatus, which is often erroneously referred to as a hereditary disease.
